Dave’s House Is Home

Dave’s House Is Home

Simply having a place that is “home” starts our residents on their journeys to living in mental health wellness.

At home, they have the stability and security of knowing where they will eat dinner, shower and sleep each night. For 10 years, Dave’s House has provided homes for people who, with the ongoing assistance of a dedicated mental health case manager, can shift their focus from surviving to thriving. It’s having a routine, their toothbrush by the sink and the ability to pursue their aspirations. It’s staying out of temporary shelters, jail and psychiatric hospitals.

James, one of our residents, perhaps sums it up best: “Dave’s House for me has given me my independence which I thought I would never get back. It has been the greatest experience of my lifetime.”

Permanent supportive housing gives our residents the solid foundation to live their lives with stability, autonomy and dignity. They receive ongoing mental health and wellness support services, helping them to manage their serious mental illness and co-occurring disabilities.

Their personal case manager works with them on life skills training, medication management and other assistance areas. They connect them to community resources, ensuring they have access to the services and support they need. They lend an ear, offer advice and celebrate resident achievements. They are also there for crisis intervention and stabilization services - 24-hours/365-days-a-year.

“What I like about supporting the individuals who live in a Dave’s House,” says Carolyn Kreuzpaintner, Aspire Health’s Supervisor for Dave’s House, “is that we work as a team. And we work for the same goals. We work to maintain a beautiful home. We work to have a healthy lifestyle.”

For our communities, our homes have saved $5.5+ million in costs related to homelessness and contributed over $3.2 million in housing and neighborhood improvements. Your generous support of Dave’s House has made a profound difference in the lives of our residents. By helping create stable homes for them, you have been instrumental in helping them escape homelessness and experience a better life.

In our latest video, Co-Founder Lin Wilensky says, “At Dave’s House, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live their best life possible. And our residents are living proof of lives restored and hope rekindled.”

We are so grateful for your help in making Dave’s House a home for over 100 men and women in our community.
