Creating Successful Environments

Insights That Inspire Seminar 2019

Creating Successful Environments

At our fifth annual Insights That Inspire Leadership Seminar on March 22, Dan Cockerell rallied attendees to build a professional environment of success through simple, time-tested approaches he learned during his 26-year Disney career. “To be your most successful, don’t make too many goals,” he said. “And, most importantly, be prepared to fail – and come back the next day and try again.” He presented ways to connect with team members in the most impactful and meaningful ways, to rally their innovation, collaborative spirit and potential.

Seminar attendees were inspired by several other Dave’s House activists as well. Board Member Jennifer Brewer discussed the bravery of our residents in living their best lives. She was joined by Kevin Harris in singing Brave by Sara Bareilles. Resident Gloria Bennett shared her story of how Dave’s House helped her re-establish a solid foundation of stability in her life.

Scott Michaud, a peer counselor with Aspire Health and Dave’s House resident, discussed how paying gratitude forward improves our individual lives and our community. He presented Co-Founders Lin and Ron Wilensky with “Empowered To Live,” one of his iconic art pieces. Demonstrating the power of gratitude, he asked them to give the artwork to someone in turn. They presented it to Pastor Barton Buchanan from their long-time church, Windermere Union Church.

Thanks to all our volunteers and everyone who took a “chance-to-win” experiences and items donated by LEGOLAND Florida, Interval International, Scott Michaud, and Ron and Lin Wilensky.
