#BeSomebodysSomeone

At Dave’s House, being Somebody’s Someone is about people helping people with serious mental illness rebuild their lives, escaping homelessness and living in a supportive home.

Dave’s House Co-Founders Lin and Ron Wilensky were Somebody’s Someone for Lin’s brother Dave Jeffreys, who had paranoid schizophrenia. Through permanent supportive housing, Dave lived successfully in recovery, in a safe, stable and nurturing environment that provided structure and ongoing clinical care.

“Dave’s daily struggles showed us firsthand the challenges people with serious mental illness and their families face,” said Ron. “These personal experiences spurred us to develop the same kind of housing so that other brothers, sisters, sons and daughters with serious mental illness can have the same opportunity to live their best lives possible, just like Dave,” he said.

Since 2008, Dave’s House has developed nine single site homes in Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Fairfax, Virginia, as well as multiple Dave’s Housing First homes, providing permanent supportive housing for over 100 individuals who are living productive lives in an atmosphere of mental wellness, safety and stability.

What began as a simple idea to help a dozen people has grown into boundless potential for positively affecting hundreds of lives in our community. This has been made possible by an incredible outpouring of community and volunteer support. For that, we thank you.

Serious mental illness affects an estimated 11.2 million men and women in the US (Source: SAMHSA, 2017). For individuals with SMI who find themselves homeless, permanent supportive housing is key to their success in live.

Please join us in our mission to end homelessness for people with serious mental illness. Through your support, you are Somebody’s Someone – positively impacting the lives of individuals who, with our help, can shift their focus from merely surviving to thriving.

Help more men and women with serious mental illness. Your donations support our work to develop more Dave’s House homes, provide day programs and create social, educational and daily life skills programs.
